Yurihama boasts many beautiful sights. Enjoy these attractions at any time of year. The distinct passage of seasons adds an extra level of beauty to these already stunning sights.
Hawai Topographical Museum
See the whole town from the observation deck of the Topographical Museum on top of Mount Umanoyama. The first floor of the museum also features exhibits about local history.
Kofun-era Tombs
The name of Japan’s Kofun period (around 250 to 550) comes from the tombs (kofun) of this era. Nine are hidden in various locations of Yurihama. Visit a full-scale reproduction of one of the tombs.
Ikeda-han Warehouse
An ancient rice storehouse sits besides the Hashizu river. See this piece of history close up.
Shikokaze no Oka Tomari
Overlooking the Tomari region of Yurihama, this hill holds fun for the whole family. Play a round of ground golf at its birthplace. Ride the "Super Slide" down the side of the hill, and look for dinosaurs in The Explorer's Forest. This park also features a gigantic wind turbine, which was one of the first large turbines in the area. A beautiful ocean view also makes this a great spot for a picnic.
Beaches
Yurihama's beaches draw many tourists in the summer, but there is plenty to enjoy all year round. Fish, camp, or hike on the beaches in the Hawai and Tomari areas. Ishiwaki beach features squeaking sands. The oysters and fish from this region are famous, so make sure to try them at one of the restaurants by the ocean.
